The former KNUT executive secretary Gucha branch, Mr Sammy Nyairo, has faulted the TSC for transferring principals who performed better from their schools instead of motivating them with other goodies to enable them continue excelling in their stations.
The outspoken secretary who addressed a gathering at Kenyenya subcounty, was reffering to the recent transfers of Riokindo and Kisii school principals immediately after the release of the 2020 KCSE results.
Riokindo high school principal, Mr Fred Mogaka was transferred to head Kisii school. This was after his school led in the National examination in the county for two consecutive years. He was replaced with the principal of Chavakali high school while Mr Maurice Ogutu of Kisii school moved to Butula High school.
Nyairo said the transfers that were carried in the middle of the school term, interrupted the normal learning programmes in the affected institutions.
He asked the Ministry of Education to find other ways of rewarding principals who led their schools to perform well rather than transferring then in the guise of promotions.
The unionist asked other principals from various institutions to emulate Mr Mogaka who has risen from a humble county school to head a national school because of hard work and spirit of self determination.
