Teachers in arid and semi-arid areas will be given special consideration by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) during promotion.
The TSC’s Director of Legal and Industrial Relations, Cavin Anyour, claims that the commission has already implemented a “special promotion scheme” to ensure that such instructors are not disadvantaged.
He was addressing at the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association annual forum in Mombasa, which is currently underway.
TSC should not base new promotions on the level of school one is in, according to KESSHA chairperson Kahi Indimuli.
He said, “Let us not tie promotions to the type of school one leads.”
