Intern Teachers to get their Salarly Arrears cleared This Month.
It has now been the norm of Teachers service commission (TSC) taking long period of up to six months to clear salary arrears. In past years, the newly recruited teachers to permanent and pensionable terms could take almost three months to get a letter for the offer of job after interview.
After the teacher reports to the work station, she or he could again wait for another four to six months to receive the first salary. It could again take a period of up to three months for the teacher’s salary arrears to be cleared.
Currently the commission has tried it’s best to ensure that immediately after conducting interview the successful teachers wether intern or on permanent basis report to work station immediately within a period of not more than 14 days.
For instance the 2021 intern teachers after having done interview on 24th December 2020, they got their letters of job offer on 7th to 10th January 2021, and reported to their respective work station on 11th January 2021.
Immediately on reporting to school the school heads were writing casualty letter and copies be submitted to sub- county and TSC headquarters offices.
Fortunately for all teachers whose casualty letters were submitted in time with all their details okey, received their first salary 27 February 2021.
Since then a few got their January salary arrears on month of March while others April. And of course whenever TSC combines two months salarly, it gets taxed. For secondary school intern teacher who have received January arrears got taxed Ksh.8,100.
TSC currently announced that all the intern and newly employed teachers who have not yet received their January Salary or other months arrears will be paid by the end of this month May.
Normally for the last two months salarly was paid at date 26, so teachers hope to smile along to bank as from Wednesday 26 May 2021. Let’s hope the commission will clear all salarly arrears before commencing the new 2021/2022 Financial year from 1st June.
