The Teachers Service Commission in its latest circular has requested teachers to prepare for hardship and house allowances recovery planned that its about to undertake.

This comes after the commission came to realize that some teachers were wrongly mapped and have been enjoying these allowances illegally.

In a letter signed by the TSC boss Nancy Macharia, directed to the affected teachers, the commission indicated that teachers who were wrongly mapped and have been enjoying the allowances will be made to repay.

“This office has learnt that your school was mapped under former municipality and marked under hardship allowance erroneously.” The letter sent to the affected teachers read in part. The affected teachers will have the recoveries affected from their salaries through the check off system.

This comes at a critical time when the commission is in the process of recovering paid allowances from classroom teachers who were wrongly marked as administrators.

On the other hand, there are plans to de-gazette some of the hardship areas which have since seen development and upgrade.
