Teachers countrywide have expressed their frustrations towards TSC for what they have termed as pre-mature payment. Normally, teachers begin to receive their salary after 20th of every month.
This time, by 4pm of June 14th 2022, at least 95% of banks had credited teachers bank accounts with June salaries, implying that over 98% of the teachers had received their due. Some teachers nevertheless were quick to thank the teachers commission for the move.
A number of educators has praised the Teachers Service Commission for processing June pay with lightning speed. However, if TSC fails to remit salary by July 14, another section predicts frustration and disarray in July.
However, TSC’s generosity wouldn’t have come worst time than the month of June. The commission is planning to carry out mass employment of teachers at the end of June. The newly employed teachers will then intergraded into the pay roll during the month of July payment. An exercise that normally takes a considerable amount of time and leads to delay of salary up to two weeks. That means that teachers will have to wait for at least 51 days the next salary.
“Why should TSC pay us early in the month and then have us wait 47 days for our next paycheck?” This is diabolical, and we may be disappointed in July if we don’t spend this money wisely. “Our next salary will most likely be after July 28th, and you can anticipate how long that will be,” a teacher from a well-known Kisumu County school said.
