A parent has today filled a petition in court seeking for reopening of schools on 1st September this year.

Joseph Auro, who has three school going children, wants the schools reopened this year not January as stipulated by the Ministry of Education. He accused the president’s decisions to close schools on March 15th saying it was illegal and not gazetted therefore it has no exucative powers.

Aura also faulted the Ministry of Education for implementing the decision without consulting the National Education Board, respective County Education Boards, parents or learners themselves as provided by Section 5(2)(d) of the Basic Education Act.

A petition also through his lawyer, also wants the Education CS barred from implementing the community based learning across the country. Community based learning was to commence soon.

Therefore, the court issued an order that community based learning to be suspended till the determination of the case which is now pending.

All eyes now on the case by Auto to be determined, so that the parents can be aware fully on the reopening of schools,since their children are much idle at home.
